Mocha Slow Cooked Beef

  • Slow Cooker
  • Saucepan


Rub/Spice Mix



  • Mix all the rub ingredients together. You will use 3 Tbsp for recipe, store the rest for later use in an airtight jar or container.
  • Pat the roast dry with paper towel, place 3 Tbsp. Of spice mix into a large zip lock bag, place the meat into the bag and close. Shake well to cover the meat. * See Note.
  • Place the coffee, beef broth, jam, balsamic vinegar into a blender. Blitz until well combined.
  • Pour the liquid into the slow cooker and place the meat on top.
  • Cook for 5 hours on low.
  • Remove from slow cooker and shred with 2 forks.


  • Pour the remaining sauce into a saucepan and boil until the liquid reduces and thickens slightly. (you can just leave as is and spoon over the top of the meat).


  • Serve with sweet potato mash and greens.


you can place the meat into the fridge at this stage to marinate overnight.
Any stone fruit jam will work here or a marmalade.
